I read the following article online yesterday. Looks like 2015 rebels are getting an significant apple upgrade. Though I don't think this is the new Apple connect.

It sounds like the Uconnect 16.09.09 update that adds Siri Eyes Free, which was released last week.

Here's the TSB.

It was discussed in this thread, but I think it deserves its own.

No. Did you read the stuff I linked? It's a USB download.

Is it possible to get new software without being a dealer? The tsb refers to dealerconnect
Just an FYI. This update is not for our vehicle. I tried to do it last week and now my dealer is having to replace my Uconnect system. It seemed like everything went smooth when I did the update but when it went to reboot it just says "waiting for USB update". The dealership said that they had no update for the software on the '16 Rebels and they were not able to flash mine back to the previous settings. I'm just waiting on my new unit to come in so I can have it replaced. Also need to talk to them about replacing my steering wheel that it seems a tech scratched the leather on while working on my radio.

The download link was given by another guy in the forum, and 2 people actually downloaded, installed it, and documented it in the link I provided. Johnny.reb and Nightshade both got it installed, following the info Johnny.reb provided. Looks like they went through their Uconnect page. Check with Johnny.reb.

Dunno what to tell you. The TSB says it's for the "Ram 1500." It doesn't separate out other trim models. And we have 2 guys in the forum that already installed it without issues. My guess is that your dealership is wrong. Maybe it just didn't install correctly in your truck. It wouldn't be the only system bricked by a bad OS update in the last few years. Far from it.
I can confirm a successful update in Canada, it wouldn't have allowed me to download the update if it wasn't required since it asks for your VIN to secure the file.

Seems like a substantial update since the voice is new, my favorites are now tracked and shown on the screen whenever a favorite is on a different station through a pop-up notification above the presets.

I'm a Android user so I can't confirm if the Siri update works.

But yes, for those interested, this is a legit update.

article indicates for 2014 and 2015 vehicles for the most part, no mention of 2016
The update I downloaded via my VIN said it was specific to 2016 models.
Updated by vin# couple weeks ago without issues.
Updated No issues

was reading this thread at work. I downloaded the file to a USB and then updated my 2015 Ram Rebel (8.4 AN) during lunch. No issues. You have to enter your vin number at the beginning of the process to verify your vehicle is eligible for the update.

Once updated there is no change to the appearance of the Uconnect system (this is not an apple play update), but supposedly adds siri eyes free capability (did not test out yet).
I had my Rebel to the dealer for an oil change today and asked about his, they knew nothing, I showed them the MSN link, they said check back in a month

You need to change dealers.
How long did it take to complete the update?
About 30 min. I like the updated favorites feature on XM. It tells you when your favorite artist or song is on a different channel. Very handy.

This dealer is 10X better than the one in Maumee Ohio that I used to deal with

I did this on my 16 rebel with no issues. It asks for your vin before you can download it.
