Lowering air pressure makes a big difference on certain terrains. I use my truck on sugar sand trails and have gotten stuck at street pressure. I air down to 20-23 PSI and I don't even spin a tire. I see a huge traction and flotation advantage with the lowered pressure.

It's one of the many reasons I loved the Hummer H1, tire inflation/deflation system onboard.
