I cant decide if the rebel is legit or not...

“Offering an off-road-style package on the Ram 1500 has been on our to-do list for some time but the right combination didn’t present itself until now,” said Bob Hegbloom, CEO of Ram Trucks. “The Rebel drops right into a core segment of the truck market with unique design cues and can-do attitude backed by Ram Truck engineering.”

more legit then most... from Allpar:

It isn’t is a direct Raptor competitor, or a miniature Power Wagon — it’s more of a Chevy LT Z71 or Ford FX4. Still, the Ram Rebel has a much better approach angle than the Chevy Silverado Z71, and a slightly lower departure angle. We can’t compare the breakover angle to the Chevrolet, since GM doesn’t list it, and the ground clearance might not be measured the same way. It appears to beat the Ford FX4 in every off-road clearance specification except for the departure angle.

So apparently they're going to come out with another version of the RAM 1500, maybe that will be a real Raptor competitor as we clearly know this wont, seems possible with the way RAM has been doing things.
I've only heard RAM will debut something at Chicago, no one has confirmed if it will be 1500 based...

Logic says if it is a 1500 it wont be better then the Rebel, otherwise they would of launched it in Detroit where the media megaphone is loudest...

Good point, if anything they would have let it make its debut alongside the Rebel.

What ever it is, i'm looking forward to it, sounds like something exciting for the 1500 line up.

That is quite possible, for some time now I have seen allpar reporting on it. Also great timing to bring it out as Hyundai showed off their truck which might fall right into the same segment as the Ram 700, although i'm not sure if the Hyundai will be nearly as rugged
