Four Wheeler named the Ram Rebel as the 2016 Pickup Truck of the year. For the 27th annual Pickup Truck of the Year Award, the Ram Rebel had to beat out three other competitors: Chevy Colorado Z71, Nissan Titan XD PRO-4X, and the Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road.

Judges based their decision on a variety of tests; how fast the trucks will go from 0-60-mph, quarter-mile acceleration and and 60-0-mph braking distance, etc.
It wasn't limited to one specific terrain either. the trucks were put through their paces on both track and off road during the week long testing period.

The final scores are separated into 5 categories and each accounting for a certain percentage of a full score.
Trail Performance (30 percent)
Empirical (25 percent)
On Pavement (20 percent)
Interior (15 percent)
Exterior (10 percent)

They didn't mention exactly how many points the Ram Rebel ended with but it was noted that the Rebel dominated 4 of the 5 categories.

Great to hear but does it have any impact on sales or anything like that?

Does it matter?

Yeah. Motor Trend made the Colorado their truck of the year. Ram didn't get included in the review because no "significant enhancements" had been performed this year. But their 2104 truck of the year was the Ram, so I guess they're spreading it out a bit.
General Motors has vested interested in Motor Trend. If you look, typically their products win more than other OEMS
So Motor Trend is biased towards GM? Didn't know that. Does GM give them perks of some kind?
Guess that means Four Wheeler is the more unbiased publication of the two.
