First I have to say I'm addicted to this frigging forum now. Getting nothing done at work except researching and ordering upgrades.

I was looking at my sticker checking to see if I had the anti-slip dif when I noticed I paid for optional trans and engine.
$500 8-Speed 8HP70
$1150 5.7 Liter V8 HEMI MDS VVT

Are these options? I'm happy with the deal I cut but am curious why these aren't considered standard equipment.

BTW- putting a Flowmaster on today, can't wait!

According to Ram's configurator, the 5.7L Hemi is now standard on 2WD Rebels, doesn't appear to be an option.

On the 4WD Rebels, the 3.6 Pentastar V-6 is standard, and the 5.7L Hemi is an option.

I have no idea why they did things that way. You'd think it would be just the reverse, the Hemi optional on the 2WD and standard on the 4WD. It boggles the mind.

Both the V6 and the V8 come with 8 speed trans, but different models.

Why would anyone want a 2WD Rebel??
Why would anyone want a cheese burger and not a Big Mac. Point being, sometimes you accept something that you do not have the means to get the "best version" but at least the version you can afford is close enough to the top that it satisfies the need.

I'm sure they'll sell a few. Great looking truck. People that don't need 4wd, aren't going to off-road, live where there's no snow, don't want to pay for it, who knows?

Who buys a 6-cylinder Mustang? Still a great looking car.

If they sell a few more Rebels, it will encourage Ram to keep evolving the Rebel lineup.
