Ok, so who's taken this baby out and gave it a good run?

I use mine like a 4x4 truck, wife doesn't agree with that most of the time lol but hey its not a truck unless your using it like one, camping, trail riding, hauling, pulling, whatever.. I got 4x4 for a reason, and no that reason isn't for the rain and snow where i live :)

And if you haven't been to the Hatfield and McCoy trails in WV... YOU SHOULD, :)

Lets hear it, please don't tell me you got a truck and never use it like one :(

This truck is replacing a Jeep Rubicon lifted on 35's for me…. It gets used.
We've had one forest day in it, and I was pleased with it's performance.

Praise:

Had to bring the tires down to around 30 psi to smooth out the ride. Once we did that, it was comfortable. A nice rigid chassis. The shocks are VERY well damped. They soak up the hits and water filled potholes like they weren't even there. The suspension is stiff, without being punishing. It feels sporty, not mushy at all. Plenty of power, and the steep gear ratio is appreciated. I'm very happy with the truck off road.

Gripes:

I wish we could further de-activate the ESC system in 2wd. I love hanging it out around corners. The truck is very tail happy, but balanced once it steps out.

Offroad mode in the suspension is rough, bone jarring even. It should be called "rock crawl" mode, because there is no going fast comfortably in this mode.

No locker of any sort. Twisting through a cross ditch can be disappointing. You'll be left, wheels spinning in the air. Heavy brake pedal pressure, matched with gas will simulate a locker with the rear LSD.. It just isn't the same. Wishing they gave it a locking/LSD rear diff. Eaton / Auburn / Etc.

Paddle Shifters! WHY NO PADDLES! You are left with these stupid buttons on the wheel… Which admittedly i'm getting good at using.. But really? The Grand Cherokee V6 had paddles… A 400HP Rebel does not? Come on.


Wish list:

Front Winch mount. I've already contacted Warn and Westin.

Front Locker. Just a little something to help pull out of those tricky spots where you are otherwise left looking like a dummy..

Loved my JK. It went anywhere I pointed it. However there were serious drawbacks to it too.

It was horrible on the highway.
It was horrible on fuel.
Pretty budget interior finishings
And it doesn't have a box. I really missed having a truck box.

A JK with a 5.7, an 8 Speed, and a box would be ideal.
Unfortunately not everyone can spend $100k on a Jeep.

Sweet sounds awesome. My question. Once you dropped the air pressure in the tires. Did the tpms stay on our is there and override I'm not aware of?

Stays on, but if you switch the warning view to something else you wont really notice it.

Paddles.. yes.. gotten pretty good at switching gears now without paddles, but yes it would have been nice to have them.

and who doesn't want a wench lol

Running hills and forest a lot lately so no mud holes (well deep enough to be called one anyway) yet, and lots of cross trails that leave you with 3 wheels on the ground but haven't had any issues yet with getting over or around anything, so pretty happy with my ride.

TPMS lights came on, for the front two tires only. Rears the light did not come on.

30 PSI was the magic, anything more and it was way too rough.

I've taken mine off road 2 times. I run 50psi on the street. 35 when on the trail. Can't be happier. The 1st time, I took it to a remote location in northern MN and caused about 1k in cosmetic damage. Luckily my friend had a 1 ton cummins, 6 inch fox racing lift, and 37s to come pull me out. The wife gave me a small lecture about 'exploring'. HA! I haven't done any serious towing yet. Just the 4 wheeler in the back. Also a couple trips to the store to pick up bricks for landscaping. Never went over 1300lbs on payload. It rides like a cloud with some weight in the bed.

Doesn't look like he's in 4wd either. Back tires spinning, front just dragging through the sand, even pushing up a pile of sand in front of them.

Is it him pushing the brakes that are locking up the front ? I see the brake lights coming on and it looks like they keep locking up and then rolling a little bit

That would work so much better if they put the rebel into off road mode and creep along the sand. Sure you won't be throwing up waves of sand behind you but you'll be able to move along faster.

I don't think so, because in 4wd the center differential locks up. He's spinning rear tires pretty fast while the fronts aren't moving even a bit. He's just having fun 2-wheeling it.

And this is why you don't go off roading blind and with no idea what you're doing. Wonder what else got damaged besides a dislocated tire.

Offroad groups?

Mine replaced a JKU also. Haven't taken it off-roading yet. Anyone know if there are any Rebel groups that do runs?
