I bought brand new 2016 Ram Rebel with a We Owe statement for Remote Start. I recently found out from another dealer that remote start is unavailable for the Ram Rebel with Air Ride Suspension. Can I return this truck to the dealer? I've seen them with remote start before.

The other dealer is full of it. Mine and a million other rebels have remote start. The one that your dealer is installing, might be an aftermarket remote starter though.

Yeah the dealer doesn't know what they are talking about. Mine came with a remote start and it will also lower the suspension remotely as well. As far as I knew this was standard on the Rebel.
I don't think it's standard as I drove one without it when test driving, but I have it on mine.
So I talked to another dealer that has one on the lot. They are saying the same thing. They do have it but it has to be installed at the factory. This was the reason I chose this truck because they said that they would install it, but now I am getting that they can't install it.

They can still instal an after market one, which in my option are much better and generally have a better range

I totally agree. The only thing you'd be missing is the remote lower function... which I've used twice in 5 months... I wouldn't miss it enough with the added range you get from after market. The factory remote has horrible range, and is often useless around tall buildings or electronic interference. I'm not sure I'm even getting the 300 feet the manual says we should be getting.
Also before you spend the money/time to do it I think you can get the Uconnect/Ram app, don't remember since I only used it once, that will let you do the same thing on your smart phone.
If you have the 8.4 radio uconnect remote start will lock, unlock and start your Rebel from your phone, up to 2 phones. from anywhere.

Support for Canadian customers?
Requires that you maintain your Uconnect subscription past the trial period. I haven't found Uconnect to be worth much, so far. Better to have the key fob just in case. The factory option works with both key fob and Uconnect. Not sure about aftermarket options.

Nope.

Not available on Canadian cars..
Okay so I know it may be a little different but I have done the exact same thing on a Silverado before and I bet the requirements and process are the same.

First you have to verify the truck has the correct module needed for the remote start to work. If you have keyless entry you are probably good to go, and I would hope the dealer verified it before saying they would do it. If it does, you will need a remote start kit which basically consists of the new fobs and an unlock code the dealer needs to unlock the feature in the canbus.

Once it is unlocked and fobs paired, you are good to go.

What I don't know if how you verify it on a RAM. My Silverado had a list of codes in the glove compartment. They were codes for every accessory on the truck. Once I verified the right module was there(ended up being the keyless entry module) I was good. The remote kit even had a sticker for them to add to the list in the glove compartment.

I didn't think so, tried to register my truck and there was no way to input Canadian address and info on the website. ****.
Where I currently stand.
The dealer gave us the "We Owe" Statement, so it is binding...
The GM of the dealership offered me an aftermarket choice, which I declined for the reason that Aftermarket voids warranty. Chrysler confirmed this for me. Mopar Dealer Connect unofficially (because they can only speak to dealers) told me that there is ABSOLUTELY no way that the remote start for that vehicle will work with air suspension. The General Manager said that he talked to some people and they said that it would work with seperate keys. What I don't understand is that if it is that easy, then why doesn't MOPAR sell that kit? or why does it say on the part number : Must not have Keyless Go (GX4), Proximity Keyless (GXD) or Air Suspension (SER). why does it not say something about requiring different keys for air suspension?

Everybody that I have talked to... multiple dealers and MOPAR accessory techs, Mopar Dealer Techs. Everybody has told me that it will not work, that it will cause problems.

The dealer is saying that "It will work" yet he can provide us with no proof that he's talked to mopar higher ups. We're just supposed to take his word for it.

I can't help you with the Rebel but I looked at adding remote start to my wife's Edge. It was as simple as adding an antenna to the module that is already in the vehicle behind the glove box, connecting the OBDII to turn it on and programming the new keys. It was a kit from Ford directly with the antenna and keys and the dealer does the computer work. Being from Ford it didn't void any warranty.

I can't see it being any different than that for RAM especially if you have keyless entry. It should be all the same module. It doesn't seem cost effective to use separate modules for every option. Usually it is a matter of turning it on or off with the proper hardware installed. If it is that complicated for RAM then their engineers were being extra special that day in the complexity department.

If the dealer installs the third-party remote start then they better give you your complete warranty in writing including the remote start. Remote start wouldn't be worth it to me to take that risk and I'd be asking for a significant refund due to a breach of contract. I'd even contemplate giving it back and shopping somewhere else.

It's a bad situation. I hope it can be resolved to your satisfaction. I know I'd be pissed.

He is the one that owes it to you and will be responsible for making it work correctly so you are pretty much stuck with what he says he can do.

There is no reason those options can't be made to work together. You can order them built that way, and I have have seen plenty of them on the lots.

I am willing to bet the problem comes with the key fobs in the remote start kit. They are probably the fobs without the air lowering buttons. So they say it won't work because they are not willing to tell you that you are losing your remote lower when you add the remote start, because the fob in the kit doesn't have both buttons. You won't actually lose the feature, but the fobs they provide in the kit won't do it, and ordering the fobs that will separately is probably stupid expensive.

Of course all of this is just a guess.
REMOTE START. Complete made by Chrysler. #82214244

did some research for you i believe this is the one you need. this particular module REQUIRES keyless go gx4 and air suspension.

Mine was the same deal and the dealer installed it and had to remove it because it would not work with the push start so they cut me a check for $1100 and said any remote start that is not Chrysler will void my warranty
