Ram unveiled the Rebel TRX concept at 2016 State Fair of Texas last week and it’s packing some serious heat with a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine.

Colloquially known as the Hellcat, the V-8 is cranking out 707 horsepower in the Dodge Challenger and Charger SRT, but in the Rebel TRX it has been detuned to a more manageable 575 horsepower. The Rebel TRX may not have the full 707hp that the engine is capable of producing, but it’s still the most powerful Ram the automaker has ever built and it’s ahead of the Ford F-150 Raptor by 125 ponies.

To handle the power increase, Ram engineers took a standard Rebel and outfitted it with bespoke CV half-shafts, rear Dynatrac Pro 60 axle with electric locking differential, set of 37-inch tires and bedlock wheels. Also installed was a custom BorgWarner 44-45 transfer case which features four driving mode; Normal, Wet/Snow, Off-road and Baja.

Making the concept more off-road ready are 2.5-inch bypass shocks and an increase in suspension travel by 40%, giving the Rebel TRX an overall travel of over 13 inches. For more stopping power, Baer six-piston monoblock calipers with 15-inch rotors are used and in the rear are six-piston calipers on 14-inch rotors. If someone does manage to pop a tire, there are two additional full-size spare tires in the pickup bed along with custom tools and a jack.

With the concept, Ram has proven that they can take on the Ford Raptor in the desert, but there is no mention of the Hellcat Rebel going into production yet. If Ram does decide to move it into production, then they’ll have a formidable Raptor fighter on their hands.

Great concept, hopefully it inspires someone to build a Rebel as crazy as this is since it will never come to production UNLESS RAM gets starts some special vehicle program ;)

I feel like this is just a one off concept that we'll never see again. Someone shoehorned a Hellcat engine into a Ram 1500, if soemone really wants one they can probably do the same to a Rebel.

I do think this is kinda cool. The Hellcat engine is my main high point though. Styling wise, I can only imagine how menacing this would be on the streets lol

The TRX concept can outsell the Raptor but it won't come cheap. those interested will have to prepare to dish out 10-15k over sticker for a Raptor.

how do you know it will outsell the Raptor, the Raptor is what you can say the ORIGINAL truck to do this and has dominated the segment for a long time. Ford has found the sweet spot of value, performance, etc. for a truck like this and for someone to come along with something priced higher... that's a tough game.

this will pave its way into a micro segment in the truck world but will never reach the volume of sales the Raptor has, but if your logic says the opposite i'm open to that insight.

If they ever come out with the TRX, I doubt they'll want to price it above their main competitor unless they want to drive potential buyers away. Can't see them justify a higher price unless the engine can push out a lot more power and torque.
