Magnaflow Muffler

Hey folks!

Just purchased a Rebel a few days ago and loving it so far! First thing I'm doing is upgrading the exhaust. I'm swapping out the stock muffler for a Magnaflow (part # 12198) and was curious if anyone has any tips or advice for me?

I plan to post before and after videos as well.

Thanks!
Dan

Very interested in hearing the difference. I like the sound of the stock exhaust but that was also limited to a test drive.
I ordered the magnaflow from boesch tech on Amazon. Magnaflow 18 inch. The 14 would be to much for since I do a lot of driving. The sound is great no drone when cruising around town and easy install. Direct bolt on which is nice. Did it in my drive way with the truck on off rd mode. Spray the hangers and muffler (where it's clamped)with penetrating oil helps a ton.

Is this a direct swap?

Do you use the stock pipes?

If so, then I am moving this up on my list of "to do's"!
How much difference in the sound from the flow master outlaw? Does anyone know?

Have you installed the Magnaflow muffler yet? Interested to hear how it sounds.
I recommend doing a Magnaflow 18" as well. I've had two Hemi's now I've put them on, they sound great!! I have my local muffler shop do mine its only $200 and they warranty the work as long as I have the truck.
Do you have a video of your muffler? We'de like to hear how it sounds.

I am ordering a new muffler as well, want an aggressive sound when accelerating but no drone and not crazy loud when just cruising around. If I order the Magnaflow 12198 will that do it? Also what do you mean by 14 inch vs. 18 inch? I just want to make sure I order the right thing, I have also heard good things about the Flowmaster Outlaw.
I'm not sure about the 12198 I think that one is a 14 inch muffler. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the shorter the muffler the louder the sound. That's why I went with something in the middle. There is a 22inch 18 inch and 14. The one I have (18) is a great choice for me because I do so much driving and haul three kids around. It all depends on how loud you want to go. The outlaw I hear is a great choice but I think it would of been to much for me.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
Yesterday I had a shop install the 18 inch Magnaflow, sounds awesome and is not too much. The direct fit kits that you can install in your driveway are more expensive than having a shop weld one in, for me it was $260 Canadian installed and the direct fit Flowmaster American Thunder was going to cost me $450. The person at the shop told me the 14 inch Magnaflow would produce a lot of cab noise, while the 18 inch is better for a daily driver. I'm very impressed with it.
muffler

went with magna flow muffler muffler made as a dirrect fit by mufflex performance. there website give you a good idea on the loudness by rating 1 thru 10. i bought the mellow set up and its perfect, a bit louder and no drone. check them out at Dodge Ram 1500 2009 to Present - Mufflex Performance Store.
Can someone post the part number for the Magna Flow 18 inch version that they have had installed? Thanks.
Stay away from Flowmaster. MagnaFlow is better choice for low-end torque. Tried Flowmaster on my previous HEMI Rob the low end torque. Have to replace with MagnaFlow 18. I am currently big fan of DYNOMAX VT mufflers. Quite when cruse at freeway speed loud as Straight through when stomp it. That is what I have on my Rebel. No drone.

The construction of the Dynomax VT mufflers looks pretty good, is this similar to what you have ?

Yes same concept but single in dual out

That valve design on the inside looks really darn cool. I'm sure pricing correlates with the complexity of this muffler though. What was pricing like compared to Magnaflow and Flowmasters ?
