Same with the companies. They don't want to pay extra to hire security expertise, but they design electronics with all kinds of security holes and then add cell and wifi and bluetooth as ways to communicate with it. Every automobile with a computer has some sort of security hole, and you don't hear about the companies coming up with fixes until they start to get bad press. But customers clamor for all that electronics crap. I don't need cell access to remote start my truck. I've used keys for 50 years. I don't need the remote start key fob or even remote unlock, and I can get by just fine without remote lower. I don't need cell-based comms for health reports. If I could have bought the Rebel without all that, I would have. But it's not offered without most of it.
