Hello everyone,

I am considering purchasing a used car and came across a 2015 RAM 1500 REBEL with a salvage title. The car has an engine of 5.7L V8 OHV 16V and is being sold for $24,995. However, I am a bit hesitant to make a decision and would appreciate any advice from the community.

My main concern is the salvage title. I understand that a salvage title means the car has been in an accident or suffered damage, and the insurance company has deemed it too expensive to repair. However, I am not sure what kind of damage this car has sustained. Is it possible that the car has suffered major structural damage, making it unsafe to drive? Also, will the car be more prone to breakdowns or have a shorter lifespan due to the damage it has suffered?

On the other hand, the car is a RAM 1500 REBEL, which is a popular and powerful truck known for its off-road capabilities. The price is also attractive, and the car is only six years old with a relatively low mileage of 78,000.

I would appreciate any insights or advice on whether I should buy this car or not. Have any of you bought a car with a salvage title before, and what was your experience like? Should I be wary of this purchase or take advantage of the low price?

Thank you in advance for your help!

I would stay away from it. Insurance co. already totaled it so what will the next carrier insure it for? Not what you pay for it most likely.
I would start with that, get the vin and call your ins. co and tell them it is a salvage and what they would charge you and what they would pay out.
Also, I know in my state (Mass) a salvage title can be a problem at the RMV.
And then there is the unseen damage, how good of a job did they do fixing it? What was replaced, etc? Down the road, no pun intended, you could have water leaks, squeaks, electrical issues. Nah, stay away.
