Has anyone installed either of them? I've had 6500k HID's on my other Ram and I loved them! Is there an advantage to installing LED's rather then HID's for the headlights? Would the light output be the same? I've heard that even though LED's look bright, they don't put out that much light. I drive a lot on highways at night and loved how my HID's performed (rarely ever used highbeams because they were bright enough). Could I expect the same from LED's? I don't really know a whole lot about them, any info would be great!

Car makers are starting to put LED light in headlights as main projectors but I don't think its the same thing as what you can swap onto your ram, always understood it that LED's we can install don't have much of a throw as HID's do.

That was true a few years ago. LEDs have undergone a lot of improvements since then. There are now LED headlight bulbs that put out as much as 3500 lumens. This is accomplished by more efficient LED technology, and by ganging or clustering multiple LEDs to get more light. LED technology has grown by leaps and bounds.

My local customs shop is looking into this for me. If he comes back with anything earth shattering, I'll let you know. Either way, I'd rather let them do it even if it's just plugging in a new bulb, because I know there are some complexities with this.

But on the inside, I did replace the bulbs with LEDs (still surprises me they didn't put them in at the factory). Oddly, the ones that have the CANBUS, error-free, etc., (the ones everyone says to use) did NOT work in mine. They seemed to only want to come on after I started the truck. I replaced them with some cheapy LED bulbs with no extra technology, and so far they've worked great.

changed hi beams to led all good , change lows to 3200 lm led, lights go on then shut off after 5 seconds in darkness on auto tried 10 times,
if I go from eng running then go back to key run position lights come on then I start up and lights stay on dosnt matter if I use auto or manually turn dial to on. I have a call to dealer who says he will call ram tech line. the ones I used were from amazon merchant partsam 2 pcs 6400L headlamp low beam with the external rectangular electrical boxes wired to them

canbus on 2015+ RAM detects something wrong, and shuts it down until you restart the car.

Did you do any background checks on that company to see what people are saying and reported from expeirence?
