Since there is a specific "break-in" procedure suggested by Chrysler/Dodge/Fiat, it implies to me that parts within the engine are "settling in". This procedure may result in small metal particles until parts fall into their correct tolerances. I don't want tiny metal particles floating around in my new engine. I know that is what oil filters are for, but lets face it. No one knows anyone who lost an engine due to the failure of any oil (either dino or synthetic) but many know someone who has lost an engine due to oil filter failure (our "friends" the Chinese are not making the oil but they are making the filters). I changed mine at 3,000 mi for the first change. Normally I do it at 1,000 mi.. High zinc is used in Brad Penn and other "hot rod" oils for older solid lifter engines that need it. There are no shortage of local experts that are more than willing to give you advise on what you are doing. Don't listen to them. More often is better than not enough. I remember those "experts" who told me that excessive masturbation would make me go blind. Here I am years later still having partial sight in my one good eye.
