Electric lockers?

11412 Views 10 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Arkhams Finest
Has anyone looked into getting an electric locker installed? Any ideas on the cost or which company would have the best setup for this? I know it would most likely void the warranty for the rear end, but it would almost make this truck unstoppable off road. Had it out on a recent hunting trip and there were a few times it would have made things a lot easier.

I've been doing some research because I'm looking to do the same thing. I think the only option right now is ARB air lockers. Probably run you around 2.5k for the setup then install on top of that. I haven't found electronic lockers yet in my search
The ARB air lockers look like a great idea. Any idea whether they make one yet to fit the Rebel? The truck's so new and not many out there, we may have to wait.
My only concern is that I am guessing a setup like this would pretty much void the drivetrain warranty on the truck.
Has anyone here looked into whether the Ram LSD can be retrofitted by the dealer? I take my Rebel in next week for its first oil change and I'll ask if no one else has.

Please report back what they say. I am interested too.
Yes you can get it instaled from the dealer. Locker price is in the $800 range then installation on top of that. Better options on the market right now than factory and cheaper too. Auburn gear LSD sounds like the best choice if ur stuck on getting a lunchbox locker. Personally id recommend a full on locker. Im stil investigating on options for these at the moment. We have the crysler 235mm corporate axle (9.25 ZF!!!) Our axles are not the standard 9.25 they switched them to the ZF in 2011
I would also prefer a full on locker if it didn't void the truck's warranty, but I don't know whether or not you could install one and keep the powertrain warranty so that's the reason I was going to look into the Ram LSD which is a $350 option if you order it with the new truck.
I was at the dealer today. Cost for parts for the Ram LSD is about $1000, plus 4-5 hours labor. The service manager recommended going after market as Tde0411 recommended.
I wouldn't have a problem going aftermarket but what I do have a problem with is Ram down the road if something was to go wrong telling me that since I didn't have it done at the dealership I can kiss my warranty goodbye.
