Does anyone own the V6 version?

Hi everyone,

I am in the market for a Rebel and had the opportunity to drive a 4X2 Hemi version but the truck was sold before I can close the deal. I found a really nice V6 version and was wondering with the HP & TQ if it was worth it? Anyone here own one-Thoughts? I can't find a review with that motor. I know the HEMI is the way to go and have owned one for 11 years. So is getting the V6 version really a step down when coming from a 4x2 345HP/375TQ truck with a 3.92 rear end. I don't haul anything (So it is empty 90 percent of the time) and just wanting something to go exploring with my son as he gets older.

thanks in advance,

Tim

Hey Tim, first welcome to the show!

I don't think we have anyone here with the 6, not that I've seen anyways... you could try testing some stripper work truck version and see what you think...you might have to special order it as well, not sure how many dealers are taking V6's as lot stock...
one person on here said they got a v6 but I dont know more than that. Just go try any of the rams with the V6 and see if you like it, the only difference will be the interior and the 3.92 rear end so it will be a little zippier than the non rebel v6's. By all accounts the v6 they have is a great engine.
I ordered the V6 Ram Rebel should be in this week I hope been waiting since July
I have the V6 Rebel. Have had it for 3 weeks. It seems to have plenty of power for me. It has no problem passing at highway speeds and when I test drove it I got it to break traction on hot dry pavement. As for MPG it's to early to really tell. But I love this truck drives and rides like a dream.

not sure how much exploring you can do in a 4x2... Im sure either engine will suffice for most peoples needs in a half ton. I can not see the appeal of this vehical in a 4x2 configuration.
I guess I should mention that mine is a 4x4 with 3.92 rear gear.

Thanks for the info Bondo!

That's kind of what I thought. Plan on driving a V6 Ram during my trip to do an evaluation but since 90 percent of the time it is just me or the family in the vehicle (used as a daily driver) the big V8 isn't really needed. I love the sound of my Hemi but hate the 13-14 gas mileage. Just haven't seen a review on this truck with the V6.

I know its early... but what have you gotten out of a tank so far?
Just rolled over 1000 miles avg is 16/18. Hope it gets better after the first oil change.
I to wish to buy a V6 4x4. Just do not have a need for the V8. There are a few with-in a couple 100 miles of me north of South Fl. I really want the lock rear diff. I do like to get into some remote area's to fish, hunt, camp...

There's a white one that has everything I want except the locking diff. Instead of locking diff the window sticker shows 3.21 gears. Maybe in flat south FL 3.21 gears has some advantage on the street but seems not enough advantage and crazy for the dealer to order a 4x4 without the locking diff instead favoring 3.21 gears.

Maybe there is an advantage I am not considering in having 3.21 gears over locking diffs?
No, the v6 only comes with 3.92 gears. V8 can be optioned to have the 3.21 but not the v6. There is no locking rear diff either , it's an lsd.

Only advantage of the smaller gears is better gas mileage on the highway.

^^^^^^^This
You'll have to get into a 2500 PowerWagon to get a Locking Diff.
Hey everyone... newbie here!

I just bought a 2015 rebel with the v6 after owning a 2014 1500 4x2 with the hemi 5.7 and 3.21gears and yes, I can tell it has less power overall but to me, thr v6 is still pretty peppy.

I ended up trading in my 1500 with the 3.21 axle because I am going to be hauling a 6600# travel trailer and I was worried about tearing up the transmission with the 3.21 axle. The worry may have been unwarranted but I loved the new 4x4 rebel and wanted to get a 4x4. My buddy said the rebel, even with the v6 should have no trouble pulling the travel trailer with the 3.92 axle.... I hope he is right. Lol

Anyone have experience pulling a travel trailer with the v6 ?
