Anyone who has not installed a DeeZee tailgate assist, please do so!!! That item is a must have and very easy to install. I am not certain why it does not come standard by Chrysler! There are a ton a videos on youtube and pictures online. I can take some of my truck if any one would like to see it.

Glad to know this works. I do miss the assisted tailgate of my Chevy, but that's about all I miss.

I purchased it from a vendor on amazon.com. It is a a great product to have. I have three little kids so its more of a safety feature for me. The only question i have is how number of cycles before it actually fails. I can't seem to find any data on this question. I will email the manufacturer and try to get some data.

I have the Dee-Zee assist and it only lasted 6 months before it got bent some how. I installed it exactly per the instructions so it must have been hit.

I put one in on my 14' Sport and when I traded in for my Rebel it came with one already installed. They are great thing to have!

Jhover what failed on it? Just got mine in going to install it on Monday. Guess I should keep the box it came in.

If you're in a colder climate I don't think they hold up in the extreme cold. Mine failed too, the seal went and it lost its pressure and fluid.

Sorry to hear you guys have trouble with your purchase. I would suggest calling deezee and getting a replacement. I live in SoCal and have not experienced any trouble as of yet. Not sure how it will hold up in the summer heat.

I haven't had a problem and this is my second truck I've had one on. Where I live we go from freezing to heat through the year for weather.

The only thing I ran into was the locktight not holding on the end that goes in the nutsert. I used "real" blue locktight and a torque wrench on this one for my Rebel so it should stay put.
