Automatic Climate Control???

So maybe there is a reason Ram didn't put in automatic climate control... Ram not only has the hot and cold buttons and knob that control the climate control but also duplicated the controls in the center screen. I am not a computer whiz but seems like it would be an easy fix to set the truck up with a program that would let us control by setting numerical temperature. Not sure about anyone else but here in the North East where the heat is a necessity I am so busy adjusting the temperature in my truck. Too cold then way too hot!

Nope, I asked the dealer about it last week after learning it's now a $100 option. I knew I was giving it up when I bought this, but didn't realize I'd miss it as much as I do. They'd have to replace the entire system, it's not just buttons and software. They wouldn't even give me a price to do it.

I thought maybe there was a valid reason they excluded it on the 2015s, but after it came out as a $100 option on the 2016s, I can only guess they made the flagship year as bare-bones as possible to feel out the market.
My Rebel is a 2016 model that I purchased this past November 2015. I bought it right off the lot so I didn't have the option of automatic climate control. If Ram really is offering this as a $100 option, any dealer is nuts for not checking that off on the order sheet. I would have paid a more than $100 for that.

I needed to share this picture. I found this picture of the interior of a 2016 Rebel for sale. It has automatic air. Not exactly sure when Ram decided to add this option. As I had previously said I have the 2016 8.4 Navigation screen and no automatic air. At some point Ram changed the 2016 model to include automatic air with the 8.4 Navigation. Sucks! Am I really the only one who hates not having automatic controls for the air?

Doesn't bother me. I bought a truck. Occasionally tapping a dash control isn't a big deal to me. But a lot of my climate control is done with the windows. That's just me.
For me it's one of those "gee that would be nice" kind of things, but wouldn't change how I feel about the truck.

I agree that anyone buying a 16 should look into it or just order/build from factory to make sure they get it... $100 is super cheap for that option.
Add 4 Wheel Auto, Rear Defrost, Bed Camera, Cooled Seats and Push Button Start to that list!!

Rear defrost is sweet, I got it on mine with the rear power window. As for Auto 4x4, no thanks, I've seen the videos of guys getting stuck because it's putting power to the wrong wheels. I prefer locking 4x4.
There is a thread for this, Why is there no Auto 4X4 function?, test123 gives a great answer.

I am happy without the auto
I'm with you guys. I'd rather have the locking transfer case. My AWD vehicles have all the other style, and that's fine. But I intend to be able to go more places with the Rebel.
My 2016 built Nov 2015 with 8.4N doesn't have the automatic climate control and dual zone? WTF???

My 2016 has every available option possible and I didn't see any option to add Auto climate control? I really wish I had it, all my other newer Mopars do and it is annoying to constantly adjust it when your used to just jumping in and going.
just picked mine up came with auto climate control but I didn't order it

Better double check that. It's not an option or maybe somebody screwed up in Warren, Mi.

Anyone else been to check if you can have installed? Hard to believe we can't get it added. Been wanting to go check on this myself so good to hear I'm not the only one curious about it.
It is defiantly and option, but I think it must be added at the factory.

I have found a few trucks listed with it, but not many.
And from what I have read adding it at the dealer level is not gonna happen. It isn't just changing the controls, it has different mix doors that allow it to handle the whole dual zone thing.

It is funny more dealers don't automatically order them with it, it is only $100 option.

I love the function, although I feel GMC has it figured out a little better then RAM.
I wonder and I will inquire at my dealer, if the auto climate function can be added via software for a single climate zone. You would think it is possible since the only difference would be hardware for the dual?
Considering it is probably completely controlled via the CANBUS, it probably can be done. Weather you can find someone who knows how and is willing to do it. Different story.

For a single zone you would probably only need the temp sensor added once the programming is correct. The Wrangles run single zone auto AC. I bet it would even use the same sensor.

This is assuming the CANBUS is in control and just using the head unit as a control display.

I was thinking this same thing
