So before i destroy my new rebel with the search for a more perfect acoustic 4x4, i'm hoping others will be more picky and daring about fixing the muddied sound of the "upgraded" "nothing but mids" alpine system. Don't get me wrong, the sound is sufficient....and being that i'm an OTR owner operator, i spend more time on 18 wheels, than 4. I guess thats why i have two rockford 12's strapped to my top bunk in my big truck...check the link below in another forum, and it seems a relatively inexpensive upgrade to the less than stellar 3.5s dash, rear door 6x9s, and the stock sub......problem is, i can't seem to find the speakers mentioned early in that post on amazon or crutchfield, out of stock or discontinued. so any of you big ballers get the itch, and do it, share the knowledge...

Have you messed with the config of the sound yet? usually this really needs to be done in most cars. I heard the alpine in a laramie and it was fine but needed adjusting. Just wondering what your impression is as I also like it loud and my chargers upgraded stereo is great after a few tweaks. Most people say the stereo is pretty good but then I have read that some people hate it.

Is it really flat or quiet or what? I also think the source of the music will matter quite a bit (FM,sat, MP3,CD etc.)

yes, ive played with the settings, if you want to actually call them settings....and the different media formats...most xm channels and mp3s are highly compressed, along with bluetooth, you will lose clarity and volume. hd fm radio and cd is a tad bit louder. im just a bit spoiled, in my big truck i have so many settings on my kenwood deck it will give you a migraine trying to figure them all out...in a nut shell you want to send the right frequencies to the right speakers....using crossovers either on your amps, or the head unit, you can really shape the sound to your liking. It took me a year driving on the road constantly adjusting to finally get it right....with that being said, the factory adjusted these settings with the alpine upgrade system amp, and you can't change them or at least they make it difficult to alter their closed audio system....they mixed the sound with a heavy emphasis on mid range...so 80% of most ram owners will have no problem with this pre set system. only snobby audiophiles will be complaining....or guys like me who have dealt with professional audio in internet broadcasting as purely a hobby, and have learned enough to make me dangerous.....

course if you want the functionality i'm talking about, alpine wants you shell out 3k retail for their "real" upgraded audio system....

Hrm well good to know thanks! Is there more than just balance and fade?

Like I said, I have the upgraded package in my charger and the speaker amp is crossed over, it works/sounds pretty great and has more than enough power really. It has very limited options for tuning but I think it still sounds pretty good. I think its kicker though I didnt get the kicker sub in the trunk.

I have always liked alpine stuff, so I was hoping that most of the complaints were just people not knowing what to do. I wonder if there may be a special menu you can access or something.
