Thanks for the heads up Rob. I generally don't check the oil unless the gauge tells me to and most of the time it's fine as long as your oil isn't very low.

Thanks for the vid. Typically I try to check my vehicles oil on weekly basis. Can never be too sure

I've had one car that I didn't look at much. On a whim, I checked the oil and it was low!! Not damaging low, but who knows!!

I think engine oil lubricates the engine and provides cooling too. Found a nifty chart of what can generally happen in that case.

There is no oil level gauge. That's a oil pressure gauge. The only way to check the level of oil is by the dip stick. My ex gf thought the same thing and wondered by she blew her engine....."ah well the gauge said it was fine!" And then she was stuck paying for a new engine.

Mine has an oil change meter (i.e.. dummy gauge), but there is no oil level gauge!
