That's unfortunate. I took delivery of a 2017 Rebel on June 29th/2017 and no support for Android auto. That is a big disappointment for me too.
I'm always having a hard time connecting my HTC One M8 to the system as well. I've always got to restart/reboot my phone and do the whole bluetooth connect and it takes a few minutes every time to sync my contacts before I can make a hands free call. Super frustrating.

I've got the 8.4 uconnect(Nav ready)

Anybody else with older android phones having similar issues?

Hey Hosspwr,
I'm located in Vancouver, Canada, and there is no support even for uconnect here,no 3g,4g, or wifi either.
From what I've read the apple car play and android auto is coming for all 2018 models in the USA. Hopefully they will upgrade all older model years as well?
NOT holding my breathe for any service in Canada though, I guess it's not a big enough market for FCA to be concerned about giving customers ANY extras or any ongoing support. It totally sucks.

Disappointing.

Search: Android Auto Ram (sorry, couldn't post link)

Android Auto is coming soon in RAM vehicles.

Note: Android Auto is available for newly purchased vehicles, and may be offered as a standard feature or optional feature. Availability is subject to change and may vary based on geography and trim level.

I guess "newly purchased" is the key phrase. I "newly purchased" my Rebel last week. No Android Auto capability.

Swell.

Well, there is this:

Found a Swedish company who offers a module, but again I can't post the link. The company is carperformance dot se

Wasn't ready to drop $500 on this capability, but I've got plans to spend more than that on other additions.
