LED Headlight Kits

What's up guys - Just picked up my 2017 Rebel - already have a list of things I want to do. However, I'm not a big fan of the OEM projector low beams. I wanted to replace everything with an LED kit, but I'm having a hard time finding anything for 2017. Does anyone know of a good LED upgrade kit? Thanks.

Welcome to the Ram Rebel Forum. Congrads on the new Rebel. But take some time and do a search here and other ram sites about lighting. LED's are nice and whiter color, but do not throw out enough light to make the change worth the effort. What does work is upgrading to a HID low beam kit. It will provide more than enough light as the low beam bulb is also used with the high beam bulb.
I have this 35 watt kit in mine with the 5500K color bulb, and it works great.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've always wanted LED headlights. I've tried many (in my previous truck) and none will give you as much light as an HID kit will. Go ahead and give the LED kit a try, but I'm betting you'll be disappointed. It MIGHT be better than your stock halogens but it'll be less light than HID. The problem with most LED kits is that they just don't throw enough light down the road. Most of them come with a 6000k bulb. Anything above 5000k is going to be blue-ish and will give you less light output. My recommendation is to just go with an HID kit that's either 5000k or 4300k. It's the first thing I installed on my Rebel after I bought it last week.

Rebel Chief - Thanks for the info - Did you buy a 2016 or 2017? My issue is that it seems NO ONE makes anything compatible for the 2017 Rebel yet. Can you provide a link to the HIDs you put in your Rebel? Thanks.

The 2017 Rebel doesn't really need "compatibility" for LED headlights. The 2015/16 projectors had very tight space limitations so bulbs with larger heatsinks would not fit. The 2017s have so much more space that it seems like pretty much any 9005 replacement will work, according to what guys have posted.

That's encouraging, but I was talking to the parts guys at the dealer today, and apparently the 2017 Rebel takes 9005 SL and 9005 HL bulbs just for halogen. I'm trying to figure out if the SL/HL thing means they are totally different than normal 9005 bulbs...Not a lot of info out there.

The SL is only for the halogen bulb. It means that it sits sideways. If you upgrade to an aftermarket HID kit you can use any 9005 kit you want. The 9005 HID bulb will fit just fine. You'll end up having to drill a 3/4 or 1 inch hole in the back of the cover of the headlight to run your HID bulb wires through (that connect to the ballast). It's a very easy install.
